Come See Me this Friday at St. Elmo’s

Great news!

I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be the “featured poet” at the next Del Ray Poetry Open Mic on Friday, Dec. 5, (7-9pm) at St. Elmo’s Coffee Pub (the one at 2300 Mt. Vernon Ave.) in Alexandria, Virginia.

That’s right, I’ll be doing a full 20-25 minute reading—then they’ll open up the mic for everyone to read their poems. I’ll be performing some of the Dark Cosmic poems from my debut book, The Book of Hours. And some new ones you might not be familiar with—including two, “The Point” and “Chopin,” that were just accepted for publication (more on where those ended up coming soon).

St. Elmo’s was the first public place (outside a writers’ convention) where I shared my poetry. So, going from being a nervous newbie at the back of the room to this month’s headliner is a great and satisfying next step on my poetry journey.

By the way, the Open Mic theme this month is “Magic of Myths.” So, feel free to bring a poem to share–if that’s your sort of thing!

Hope to see you there!

Darius
